What a learning pod actually is

A learning pod is exactly what it sounds like: a small group of children, a dedicated teaching team, and a programme designed for the specific children in the room, not a curriculum bought off a shelf. Hero License Pod encourages free thought and collaboration, and it has never been franchised, licensed or replicated.

Both sides decide. If the pod isn’t right for your family, we’ll say so plainly, and where we can, point you somewhere better suited.

If it is right, your child’s programme is shaped around them (strengths, pace, interests, values) before their first day.

No school transforms a child in a week. What changes quickly is the direction of travel: fewer battles in the morning, more mud and more conversation in the afternoon.

Every alternative sells a system, a campus network or an institution. This is the only one that starts from your child, and the only one you won’t find advertised on a billboard.

The questions careful parents ask

“Is a pod a real school?”

Yes: real teachers, real structure, real progression, in its fourth year. What it doesn’t have is 25 children per class and a curriculum that can’t flex.

“What about friends?”

This matters, and it’s why the pod is a community, not a tutor. Small doesn’t mean solitary; it means friendships where your child isn’t performing a role.

“Who actually teaches?”

The pod’s own teaching team delivers the programme. Franca (13 years designing individual education programmes, educator by training) designs and oversees it. She’s the person you’ll speak to first.

“Is this one of those AI schools?”

No. Your child’s day is built around nature, hands-on work and people. There is no algorithm teaching your child and no screen-based curriculum at the core.

“What does it cost?”

Tuition is discussed in the parent conversation, in the context of what your child’s programme involves. We’re straightforward about fit in both directions, including this one.

“What does values-rooted mean here?”

The pod cultivates confidence, courage, kindness and self-determination in a community rooted in Christian values. What that means for your family day to day is exactly what the parent conversation is for.

What ages does the pod serve?

Ages 5–7 for the Fall 2026 year. If your child is younger, the parent conversation is still the right first step for next year’s cohort.

Where is it?

West Austin. The exact location is shared once a conversation is underway.

How many places are there?

A limited number each year, by design. The pod stays small because that is the point of it.

What does a day look like?

At least half of every day is spent outdoors: exploring, hiking, gardening, building. Indoors, hands-on Montessori-inspired work in a prepared environment, with weekly Mandarin instruction woven through.

What does the Private Parent Conversation involve?

Around 30 minutes with Franca. Your child, your situation, honest fit assessment both ways. No obligation, nothing to prepare.
